Bucharest Thermal Baths

Among hot water pools and cutting-edge facilities, Bucharest's thermal spas are ideal for spending an unforgettable day of relaxation.

The Bucharest Thermal Baths are located north of the city, just a short distance from the international airport Otopeni. They form part of a wellness complex, set within a relaxing environment designed to help you forget, at least for a few hours, the stress and hustle and bustle of the metropolis.

The venue housing Bucharest Thermal Baths, or Therme Bucuresti in the local language, maintains an internal temperature of 29–30 degrees, with water temperature of a constant 33 degrees throughout the year. The thermal water springs from underground and feeds 10 swimming pools, as well as 6 saunas, 4 steam baths and 16 water slides. Adjacent to the baths, you’ll also find a botanical garden, the largest in Romania, with over 800,000 plants, including 1,500 palm trees, which form Europe’s largest palm grove.

What to do at Bucharest Thermal Baths

People visit Bucharest Thermal Baths essentially to relax and spend a day with family. They’re divided into three themed areas, each with its own special features, called Galaxy, The Palm and Elysium.

Galaxy

The Galaxy area is designed for family entertainment, featuring water slides for children, an indoor wave pool, an outdoor swimming pool with pool bar, a sand beach with palm trees and a relaxation zone, plus a restaurant with 400 seats. This zone is the only one in the entire thermal complex where children under 16 are permitted.

The Palm

The The Palm area is dedicated to relaxation. The main swimming pool, both outdoor and indoor, is surrounded by over 500 palm trees, and is covered by a retractable roof that, on fine days, allows you to admire the sky. There’s a jacuzzi area and 3 mineral pools, and you can also walk through a tropical forest and relax in hammocks.

Elysium

The last of the three areas of Bucharest Thermal Baths, Elysium, is dedicated to wellness, featuring themed saunas, an indoor panoramic swimming pool with pool bar, an à la carte restaurant and a large terrace. Each of the 6 saunas in the facility has its own theme and different temperature; after the sauna, you can cool off under the magnificent Calla shower, which sprays water from every petal.

Admission tickets for Bucharest Thermal Baths

You can purchase admission tickets for Bucharest Thermal Baths online by following this link or by completing the form below; we recommend doing so in advance, as it’s the most visited attraction in Bucharest. Prices for Bucharest Thermal Baths actually follow the structure’s layout: therefore the three areas Galaxy, The Palm and Elysium maintain separate rates; to visit all three you need to purchase three separate tickets, or buy a special ticket for “area change”.

Prices do, however, share common features: for each area you can purchase a ticket for 3 hours, for 4.5 hours or for the whole day. Surcharges apply for entry during weekends, for time exceeding the ticket purchased, and for towel rental.

Disabled visitors who need a companion, whether adults or children, can access the facility at an increased rate, which covers both their admission and that of an adult companion. Disabled visitors who don’t require a companion are entitled to a special discounted rate.

Family discounts with children are available, as well as reductions for evening admission from 19:00 onwards, Monday to Thursday.

Additionally, for maximum convenience, you can choose admission to Bucharest Thermal Baths with transfer included from your preferred location, whether it’s the airport or a hotel in central Bucharest. We recommend purchasing it online in advance to best arrange your meeting with the driver.

Opening times for the Baths

Bucharest Thermal Baths are open every day of the week. Opening times vary depending on the day and area chosen, but generally range from morning opening at 8:00–9:30 until evening closing at 22:00 for the Galaxy area, and until 23:00–00:00 for The Palm and Elysium areas.

Tips for visiting Bucharest Thermal Baths

Bucharest Thermal Baths are an excellent option for spending a different kind of day. We recommend planning your visit after 2–3 days spent in the city, before setting off on a road trip tour through Romania. Given their proximity to the airport, they’re also ideal for resting before heading home.

Despite their purpose as a wellness and entertainment centre, the thermal water in the pools is microbiologically pure, contains no parabens and is rich in mineral salts, copper, zinc, selenium, calcium and magnesium: a true source of health and relaxation for body and mind. Bucharest Thermal Baths are authorised by the ISU (Emergency Situations Inspectorate) to operate in complete safety.

If you have a rental car, use it without any problems to reach Bucharest Thermal Baths: the car park is larger than those of all the shopping centres in the city, and is also free.

As for safety, it’s important to know that there are no supervised areas for children, but there are lifeguards on hand in case of problems or emergencies. There are also 3 first aid units, one for each themed area of the facility, in case of injury, accidents or cuts.
