Romania will offer you a truly unique journey, amongst historic cities, wonderful valleys, towering mountains and distinctive castles and monasteries. Immerse yourself in the magical atmosphere that envelops this country; a 10-day itinerary departing from and returning to Bucharest will be sufficient to discover its architectural gems and unique attractions such as Dracula’s Castle.

Day One: Bucharest

Arrive at Bucharest Airport and make your way to the capital to discover its imposing buildings, including the Palace of Parliament, the Village Museum and the opulent Romanian Athenaeum, then head to Revolution Square and University Square, not forgetting a visit to the Old Town.

Days Two and Three: Curtea de Argeș, Sibiu and Transfăgărășan

On day two, hire a car and head to Curtea de Argeș1, approximately 2 hours’ drive away, where you can admire the magnificent 16th-century monastery, a unique monument, then continue to Cozia Monastery2 and the stunning town of Sibiu3 where you can spend one or two nights. If you’re travelling in summer, you might also consider visiting the ruins of Poienari Castle, just 30 minutes’ drive from Curtea, and heading north along the spectacular Transfăgărășan Road4.

Day Four: Biertan and Sighișoara

On day four set off towards Biertan5, home to one of the most impressive Saxon fortified churches, and continue to the citadel of Sighișoara6, Dracula’s birthplace.

Days Five and Six: Bistrița and the Painted Monasteries of Bucovina

On day five it’s time to visit Bistrița7 whilst on day six explore the Painted Monasteries: don’t miss the Sucevița Monastery8, the Moldovița Monastery9 and the Voroneț Monastery10.

Day Seven: Brașov

On day seven, take time to explore the beautiful regions of Romania as you make your way to Brașov11, a true architectural jewel where you can admire the Black Church, the Medieval Citadel, Rope Street and the Town Hall Square.

Day Eight: Bran and Peleș Castles

Stunning views of Dracula’s Castle

On day eight it’s time to visit Rasnov Fortress12, Dracula's Castle13, Sinaia where you can visit Peleș Castle14 and Pelișor Castle15.

Day Nine: Snagov and Return to Bucharest

Snagov Lake

On day nine return to Bucharest but make a stop along the way at Snagov Monastery16, stroll around the lake and visit the monastery where Dracula’s remains are probably buried.
